About Moonbrush

Built where every result is counted in public.

Before Moonbrush was a company, it was a decade of work on the hardest version of the problem: persuading people by a fixed date, with the result counted in public. The platform is that discipline, rebuilt for businesses, where the deadline is a quarter and the opponent is a competitor.

Where we come from

We learned persuasion where it gets measured.

Moonbrush grew out of more than 500 campaigns over a decade. Every one had a fixed date, a visible result and an opponent looking for the flaw. You can’t spend reaching people who were already on your side, and you can’t win with people who only resemble them.

On a campaignIn your business

  • Who is persuadable?Who could be acquired?
  • What moves them?Which message converts?
  • When do they decide? When are they in-market?
  • Did we win?Did the holdout move?
  • Persuasion, not only targeting

Model who can be moved and why, instead of who already fits a profile.

  • Individual resolution at scale

People and households scored one by one, not segments described in aggregate.

  • A hard deadline for every model

Each one judged against a real outcome on a real date, then rebuilt.

  • Controls that survive scrutiny

Restricted fields, documented permitted uses, and nothing that can’t stand up to a headline.

Built for regulated work

Politics bred us for the most regulated rooms in business.

Campaigns run on restricted data, under disclosure rules, with an opponent ready to turn any misstep into the story. That is where we learned to build audiences only from what we are permitted to use, to document every field we touch, and to show our work before anyone asks.

Pharma and health, financial services and higher education ask for that same discipline. We didn’t have to adopt it. We arrived with it.

  • Learned on campaigns: Voter data whose permitted uses are written into lawApplied in regulated industries: Health audiences built from behavior, with no PHI in any model
  • Learned on campaigns: Every ad read line by line by an opponent and the pressApplied in regulated industries: Every message hypothesis ready for medical, legal and regulatory review
  • Learned on campaigns: A result counted in public on a fixed dateApplied in regulated industries: Lift read against a holdout, with the method set down before launch
  • Learned on campaigns: Restricted fields that could never be used for targetingApplied in regulated industries: Scores kept out of credit, underwriting, admission and eligibility decisions

How we work

Five habits we kept from the field.

  1. 01

    Agree the number first

Every engagement starts with the outcome it will be judged on, written down before anything is built.

  2. 02

Find the why, not just the who

A list of likely buyers is the start. The work is knowing why each group would act, and what would stop them.

  3. 03

Beat the baseline or don’t ship

A model that can’t beat a demographic and a lookalike baseline on your holdout is killed, and the reason is logged.

  4. 04

    Say where it’s weak

Scores are probabilities, not verdicts. Every model carries a label that says where it is thin.

  5. 05

Leave the data where it lives

Only hashed keys cross. Your records stay in your environment, and they never train a model another client uses.

The people

The people behind Moonbrush.

A small team built around one habit: be graded on the result. Most clients work with three or four of us, and all of us answer for the number.
